What better day to post a birthday card to share than your own birthday?
Today is my 48th birthday and I am so happy I still get to celebrate. I am enjoying a day at my craft desk crafting and creating. I always make sure I take my birthday off from my day job so I can do something I love. Do you also take your birthday off?
The card I am sharing today shows off the spotlight technique. This simply means I am highlighting an image or paper. This lovely paper is a favorite from the Occasions catalog, and it will soon be leaving us! This is the All My Love DSP and you can still get it until June 3rd! To make this card I started with a 4 1/4 x 11 inch card base in Basic Gray. I then cut a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of the All My Love DSP. I used my Layering Circle Framelits to cut out a piece of the DSP near the bottom left of the card. I also cut out a slightly larger circle in Lovely Lipstick card stock. I colored the flowers in the circle I cut out with my Light Real Red and Light Flirty Flamingo Blends. This is what makes it more of a spotlight! I added some All My Love Ribbon and added the circle on the card, with dimensionals, so that it matches up to the design on the paper. I added a Happy Birthday sentiment, from the Amazing Life stamp set, and Metallic Pearls to finish it off.
Be sure you are checking out all the lovely items that will soon be no longer available by shopping the Last Chance Items on my site. Just click the banner below to start shopping!
I will be sharing another sneak peek from the NEW catalog this weekend so be sure to come back soon!
I am back to share another sneak peek from the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog coming out June 4th! For this card I used a new Stamp set and punch, check it out!
The new stamp set used is called Above The Clouds and it has a fabulous matching punch that allows you to cut out the hot air balloons as well as the little basket. The name of the new punch is Hot Air Balloon. The stamp set and punch are not the only new things on this card. This card has TWO of the new In-Colors for the 2019-2021 time frame! These beautiful colors are called Seaside Spray and Terracotta Tile! As you can see, the blue is a fabulous, soothing color and the Terracotta Tile is a superb, earthy tone you could mix with many colors. To make this card I started with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches card base in Seaside Spray. The next layer is a skinny layer of Terracotta Tile cut to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches. The Whisper White layer is 3 3/4 x 5 inches. I used one of my sponge brayers to quickly run some Seaside Spray across the White card stock in straight across lines. I wanted it to appear to be a light sky. For the clouds I used Balmy Blue stamped off once. The outline of the small balloons were stamped in Terracotta Tile full strength. The more pale inside part of the balloon is a separate stamp using Terracotta Tile stamped off once. I used this same technique for the large Balloons in both colors. the little baskets were stamped in Gray Granite. The sentiment was also stamped in Gray Granite. I popped the large balloons using dimensionals and added some basic rhinestones to finish it off.
Check out all the great stamps that come in this set and the handy punch that matches!
I hope this sneak peek helps you get as excited as I am for the new catalog! Come back soon for more creative inspiration!
I am still busy trying to come up with fun creations to share that give you a sneak peek of the new catalog. In the meantime, I had to share another card I made with the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty paper!
So pretty!! I have a fun trick to give you regarding how you might add the adhesive to this super delicate paper. The paper pack comes with some card sized designs and some 12 x 12 designs. The paper used in this card is from the 12 x 12 paper. I just cut out a section big enough to fit onto a piece of Blueberry Bushel card stock. In this case that is 4 3/4 x 3 1/2. This paper looks best when well adhered to the card stock. So I used my Tombow Multi-Purpose Glue and a sponge dauber so I get glue all over. I simply put a small amount of a glue in a container and then I lightly dabbed the dauber into the glue. I laid the laser cut paper on my silicone mat so I could dot the glue all over and it would be easy to clean up the extra glue off the mat. Once I had enough glue, I carefully stuck it on the Blueberry Bushel paper! It makes it so much quicker and easier to do it this way! I then layered the laser cut paper on a Whisper White layer cut to 4 7/8 x 3 5/8. It is a super skinny layer that makes the detailed paper look as though it has a border.
The rest of the card is pretty easy. I cut a 1 x 3 5/8 Blueberry Bushel strip of card stock and then layered the 3/8 inch Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon on top. I used the Happy Anniversary sentiment from the Best Birds stamp set for my wishes. I added some pearls to finish things off.
Nearly all the items I used to make this card will soon be going away! I am happy to report for now you can get the stamp set, the paper and the ribbon, but only for a few more weeks! It is also possible it could sell out so head over to my website to grab these items today and you can make this card lickety-split! Click here to start shopping!
Check back soon as I will have a sneak peek for the new catalog on my next post!!
Are you ready for the first sneak peek from the NEW catalog? Here it is!!!
Isn’t this GORGEOUS!?!? I am a big fan of cards that come together easily and this is one of them. It doesn’t look like it was easy though, right? That beautiful paper you see is a laser cut card that just needs a little bit of creativity from you to turn it into something truly special. It comes in a pack of 12 cards with 12 matching envelopes all packaged in a beautiful tin. Here is a look at the products I used up close:
Isn’t this Bird Ballad Tin beautiful? And how about the gorgeous Organdy Striped Ribbon in Petal Pink? You can get all of these items when the catalog goes live on June 4th. If you don’t want to wait then join my team and you can get these items RIGHT NOW! Click here to sign up today!
Here is a little info about how I made the card. I cut a a piece of Petal Pink card stock to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I added some Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the inside of the laser cut front of the card and put the Petal Pink card stock there. The adorable bird and Thank You sentiment are both from the Free as a Bird stamp set. They are stamped in Memento Black ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I used my circle framelits to cut out the bird and a scalloped edge circle in Petal Pink. I then added one of the Pearlized Doilies and stuck that to the card with dimensionals. To color in the bird I used Light and Dark Crumb Cake Blends Markers, as well as the Light Petal Pink Blends Marker. The Thank You sentiment was cut out with the brand new Stitched Nested Label Dies. I added that to the card with a dimensional on one side and snail adhesive on the other. I finished off the card with the pretty new Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon. How easy is that? The great thing is this card looks like you worked extra hard on it too!
