I had just enough time to fit in one more craft project before I head to Sunny CA for a little rest and relaxation.
Over at Catherine and Cathy Create they have their third challenge posted for February. It is a tags challenge in which the tag needs to have a weather theme. I dug through my stampin’ stash and found I don’t have much to do with weather…. hmm, no sun, no clouds… but I do have snow! How ironic, I also have LOTS of snow outside, so it only seemed fitting to use snow as my weather element. Here is what I came up with:
For this card I used the Chalk Talk Stamp set and Framelits from Stampin’ up. I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy which is actually darker than the patterned paper I used. I tried to use Not Quite Navy but it did not show up well on the Crumb Cake paper. Then I thought maybe if I used the darker color but then outline the stamped image with the Chalk Marker from Stampin’ up it would look better. I should have taken a picture of the before and after because it is a huge difference. I really like how much it truly looks like a chalk drawn sentiment by adding this detail. I also like how I can still use the dark ink color and get the chalk look. I have a feeling that new chalk marker is going to come in handy a lot. My weather detail is the snowflakes on the background. These are snowflakes from the Festive Flurry set from Stampin’ up’. I wish I could have found a more “snow like” designer paper to use with it, but this was what I had available. 🙂 Other paper used includes Stampin’ up Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla with crumb cake sponged on top.
Now I need to finish up my work day and then it is off to enjoy sun, sand, friends and family as I am heading to the Golden State for some seriously NEEDED va-cay!!
Happy Stamping everyone!
I have been on a crafting hiatus for the last two weeks thanks to work…. ugh. Thankfully I finally caught a break this weekend for a little paper crafting time.
I noticed that over at Catherine and Cathy Create they have a gold theme for their February Cards Challenge. I had some gold creativity brewing so I thought I would give it a try. Here is what I came up with:
This card is much more “busy” than what I normally do, but I think I still like it. I also think it could easily be masculine or feminine. I used the Six Sided Sampler Set from Stampin’ up and its matching hexagon punch. Some of the Hexagon’s are embossed in gold. I also had some gold foil paper that I ran through the big shot with a Chevron embossing folder. The patterned paper is just some I had lying around asking to be put together on a gold themed card 🙂
I am going to have another crafting hiatus because I am off to enjoy some warming weather for a bit. I do wish I could take craft supplies with me on the trip, but since I can’t maybe I will just enjoy looking at pinterest for ideas and catching up with everyone else’s blogs while I have time to do so!
I happened upon this adorable blog – http://www.catherineandcathycreate.com/ and they look like they do some fun challenges. I figured I have an idea for their Hearts a Flutter challenge so I will just participate. Here is my submission:
This was a pretty easy card to make using the Hearts a Flutter and Gorgeous Grunge set from Stampin’ up. I embossed the hearts in white and used some leftover scrap paper in the center. I tied it off with the Cherry Cobble twine from Stampin’ up. It will be a cute little valentine for me to send out to my bestie!
I am just barely making it to submit my card for the final challenge on the card bowl at Operation write home. This one was a sketch challenge. Here is what I came up with:
This card is a little on the plain side for my normal tastes, but I think it is still cute. I used Hearts a Flutter stamp set and diet set to cut the hearts and petite pairs for the sentiment. I truly love those candy dots from stampin’ up so their on there too.
Well it was fun while it lasted but it is time to clean up my scrap supplies and get ready for the work week. Tootles!
I ended up making one additional card so I think I AM going to be able to enter the Card Bowl at Operation Write Home after all. I am going to hurry up and submit it before it is too late. Here it is:
I used the Stampin Up Great Sports stamp set on this one and a sentiment from Easy events. I had to find a way to use my favorite set- Gorgeous Grunge – so I hope it looks like the ball is in mid-throw with that stamp. Perfect for a kid I know who loves football!
