Catherine & Cathy Create June challenge – Pack your bags

Happy Saturday All,

It was a busy week for me with limited time for crafting but I finally fit some in.  I decided to give the June Challenge a try over at Catherine & Cathy Create because it would give me an opportunity to use one of my new stamp sets. Actually, I received this stamp set in the drawing that Catherine & Cathy Create provides every month so it was FREE! Can’t beat that!  The challenge this time is pack your bags so my Stampin’ Up Around the World stamp set seemed perfect.  I also got to use more of the new Stampin’ Up In Colors, including my new favorite – Blackberry Bliss!

Operation Write Home Sketch #229

Hey there!

I found some more time to craft today and I have to say I think my back is really getting better! I am so happy about this! Maybe I can start doing all my normal activities again, YAY! Anyway, on to the crafty stuff…

Operation Write Home has a nice Sunday Sketch today involving circles. Well I am forever a rebel so I wanted to see if I could follow the sketch with a slightly different theme, therefore I used Hexagons! Check it out!

I was so happy to make this card because I finally got to use my BRAND NEW Stampin’ Up colors! I only just received the items I ordered from the new catalog and I still have lots of fun stuff to play with!  The new In colors this year are very rich and luxurious. If you haven’t seen them yet, you need to check them out. In fact,  here is one of Stampin’ Up’s new embellishment options showing off the newest  In Colors for 2014-2015:

My Final Graduation card for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge 140

I am finally getting back to some crafting at the very end of this week. Didn’t quite feel good enough until now, but I am always glad to fit it in when I can!

I had one last graduation card to get done so I decided to look for some inspiration on this one. Over at Freshly Made Sketches they had a nice sketch challenge I thought would be fun to try.

Here is my take on it:

Here is the sketch:

For this card I had to get a little creative with my supplies… I wanted to use the school colors for this card, however I didn’t really have the right ones. Then I was going to make a background layer of blue, but I didn’t even have the right color for that either!  I decided I was going to find a way to make it work. So I used Island Indigo and slightly stamped off some of the ink to make it look more like his school colors. I decided to really play up the silver and used that as my background paper instead. Also there are three layers of ribbon on this card, not five.  Two of the stripes were made using a versamark pen and then heat embossed with silver powder. It looks a little rugged but I think I almost like it that way. Funny how sometimes things don’t come out as you planned but you like them anyway!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Supplies used:

  • Ink: Stampin’ Up Island Indigo, Versamark Pen and Silver embossing powder
  • Paper: Stampin’ Up Whisper White and Silver Metallic paper I had in my stash
  • Stamps: Stampin’ Up Pure Gumption stamp set
  • Embellishments: Stampin’ Up Ribbons in Island Indigo Ribbon and Silver. Loose sequins I had in my stash
  • Corner Rounder punch, Heat gun and a paper trimmer

CCMC Color Challenge 306 and My Pumpkin Challenge – Everything Happy

So many fun challenges out there, that is why it is better to pick two!!! Over at Create with Connie and Mary the color challenge is to use Perfect Plum, Coastal Cabana and Wild Wasabi. Well, I only have two of those colors in my stash…. that is why I decided to also use My Paper Pumpkin! I believe that the green tag in the May Paper Pumpkin is Wild Wasabi! So once I figured that I out I knew I had to make it work for both. The My Paper Pumpkin Challenge this month is Everything Happy. I KNOW the recipient of this thank you card will be happy, right?  😉 Check it out:

This card has all kinds of goodies from My Paper Pumpkin! Have you ordered yours yet? If not, you should get it! You can make so many more projects with it beyond the suggested ones in the kit.  It is also very easy to order these either for yourself or even as a gift for someone special.  You can order from me by clicking on the icon I have on my blog in the sidebar. Okay enough commercial… I just really like how much fun they are!

The fun wood veneer gives this card some wow! I stamped it in Perfect Plum but it looks much darker. I then heat embossed it with iridescent Ice. I have done this before and just love how it looks on these veneers. The stampI used is from the April Paper Pumpkin kit. I love the arrows, chevron and stars that appear to be all over the place in paper crafting these days. I was not sure about using a button on the card after adding a glitter effect to it, but I think I like it.  What do you think?

Hope your day is going well!

Operation Write Home Sketch #228

I headed over to Operation Write Home to check out their Sunday sketch because I can typically finish those quite quickly.
This sketch made me think a bit because I have very few border punches. I decided to use my circles border punch which is not really the typical one to be used but I think maybe it works. I also was able to use up some of the scrap paper left over from all the thank you cards I made recently.  Check it out!

Here is the sketch to be followed:

I think it turned out okay, but I am pretty sure I need to add some more border punches to my collection so I have more variety!

Thanks for stopping by!
