Hi creative friends!
I am back to share a super cute and easy treat bag you can make for your holiday gifts! This is the Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Bags available in the Holiday catalog. They are a natural colored muslin bags, but the fun comes in when you get to decorate them any way you choose!
These are great for making any small gift pretty! I chose to dress up my bags using the Making Christmas Bright stamp set. I stamped directly on the bags with the stamps using Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Basic Gray inks. To make the light bulbs sparkle I took the Fine-Tip Glue pen and spread a little on each bulb. I then used a small paint brush to smooth out the glue up to the edge of each bulb. Then I poured Dazzling Diamonds on the glue. Spreading out the glue into a thin layer really helped it dry quicker and make the bulbs look prettier. I needed to let that dry for about 5 minutes before doing more to the bag. I will also mention I put a thick piece of card stock in the bag while I was stamping and adding glue to ensure it would not bleed through. This also gave me a flat surface to work with which made it easier to stamp! I got some of these great tips from Linda Heller over at www.stampingschool.com. Thanks Linda! While my glue was busy drying I stamped my sentiment onto Whisper White card stock with Cherry Cobbler ink. I cut it out with a die from the Farmhouse Framelit Dies. I then punched out three leaf sprigs using the Sprig Punch and Mossy Meadow paper. To attach the sentiment to my bag I punched a hole in the corner of the die and then threaded it through the white drawstring attached to the bag. I had to cut off the knot at the end of the bag to do this. I then filled the bag with candy (yum!) and pulled the drawstring tight. I tied a simple knot to keep it on. I then used the Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow Festive Farmhouse Twine to make a bow. This was adhered to the sentiment with a glue dot. I should mention that the reason I used Old Olive to stamp the light bulbs, rather than Mossy Meadow, is because the ink became much darker once I added the glue and Dazzling Diamonds to it. Old Olive actually looked just like Mossy Meadow once I did this, and it matched the leaf springs and twine perfectly!
That is all there is to it! This was a pretty quick way to dress up a basic bag and make it extra special for someone. Do you have any special handmade gifts planned? If not, grab some of these bags and really make someone’s day with a little treat like this! You can shop for the supplies by clicking here to order from my website.
