Stampin’ Up! Hand Sewn Woven Threads Paper and Stitched Lace Card

Hello Creative Friends!

I am back to share a pretty card with you. Today I am showing off the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper and the Stitched Lace Die with some actual sewing on the card!

Have you ever thought of sewing on your cards? I decided to give it a try with the Linen Thread. To do this you will need a relatively large sewing needle and a paper piercing tool/mat.

For the sewing portion of this card I started with a 4 x 1 inch piece of Teracotta Tile card stock. I then layered this with a 4 x 1 1/4 inch piece of Crumb cake. Next I laid the paper onto my piercing mat and then used a ruler over the top of the paper to pierce holes every 1/4 of an inch across the paper. Here is a picture for reference:

Once I had punched all the holes I checked to make sure they were big enough for my needle. If not I widened the hole with my paper piercing tool. Next it was time to do the sewing! It is a good idea to figure out how many holes you want so it comes out the way you want it to look on your card. I ended up cutting my paper down just a little (to the size noted above) to make it fit right. Here is a photo of the finished sewn paper:

That’s it, easy right? You could even make the holes in more decorative design if you wanted! Now on to the rest of the card!

The pretty die cut you see is part of the Stitched Lace die but it is only a small little portion of it. I actually cut a circle out of the die and only used that portion. Here is a photo:

This die will cut an entire card base but it doesn’t mean you can’ t use it for other shapes too, right? It was simple to get the circle out using my Take Your Pick Tool too! I cut the circle out using one of the scalloped circles from the Layering Circles Framelits and I also cut one to layer behind it in Crumb cake.

Now it was time add in the lovely Woven Threads DSP. I thought the design in the paper I chose looked very similar to the die cut so it seemed like the perfect fit. The DSP is cut to 3 5/8 inches X 4 7/8 inches. The Whisper White layer is cut to 3 3/4 X 5 inches. The card base is 4 1/4 x 11 inches and scored at 5 1/2. I chose a sentiment that could be used for many occasions from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. I punched that out with the Classic Label Punch. I added a bow with the Linen Thread to finish it off.

Do you think you will trying sewing on a card sometime? It is much easier than you think!

I hope this gives you some crafting inspiration! Thanks for visiting my blog today!
