A Little Birdie Birthday Card

It’s Monday again already?  Where did my weekend go? Sigh.  Back to the grind I guess. Thankfully, I did have some creative time this weekend to make the start of my work week a little more tolerable.

I am always looking for good birthday card ideas that make me use sets I forget about, or maybe use the sets I have in different ways.  Over at Addicted to CAS the new theme is Birds.  I remembered I have this adorable stamp set with birds that I  rarely use so it seemed like the perfect choice for this challenge.

Hello Love Stamp set

That little bird just makes me smile!  He is too cute! To make this card I used the Hello Love stamp set, This is actually a Hostess set from Stampin’ Up and it won’t be around much longer. So if you like it, plan a workshop so you can earn it! It comes with the great sentiment and word bubble stamp too.  I did cut that out with my Word Bubble Framelits (also retiring).   I used the Thoughts and Prayers set to stamp the branch. I wanted various colors on the branch, so I used markers to color it in. I used Chocolate Chip for the branch, Garden Green for the leaves and Calypso Coral for the flowers.   The little pearls in the flowers really give it that extra something special.  To make my bird, I stamped him in black and the cut him out. I cut off his feet and little hair on top, but I stamped him again right onto the card so the feet and little sprigs of hair would show with my cut out on top.  I colored him with the Daffodil Delight blendabilities.  These are no longer available, but you could easily color him with blender pens and ink instead to get the same look. Everything is stamped on Whisper White paper, but I used a sponge with Soft Sky to add color to the card to make it appear like the branch is in the sky.  On the inside of the card It says It’s your birthday.  Here is a picture of that too:

Hello Love Stamp Set 2

I am going to enter this card in the challenge at Addicted To CAS. It appears they are also having a Design Team call so what the heck, I will give that a try too!

I hope your week goes smoothly and you find time to be creative!

Birthday Card with Splatter and Sparkle!

Hi Friends!

I am back from my vacation! I had such a nice time visiting Texas and spending time with my In-laws. I will admit though, I am so addicted to crafting I actually missed it while I was gone! I made sure to remedy that by getting creative and I have a fun card to share with you. I also have lots of announcements about Stampin’ Up.  So without further delay, here is my card:

I used lots of fun elements to make this card. First, I stamped paint splatter with Versamark on the base layer of Bermuda Bay cardstock.  Then I used Versamark again to stamp to large sentiment on black paper. I then heat embossed with white embossing powder. To give the sentiment extra pop  I stamped the word today in Bermuda Bay ink and cut it out to fit right over the word already there. To keep with the alternating Bermuda Bay/ White theme, I stamped the birthday cake stamp in Bermuda Bay and even heat embossed glitter over the cake ( you can’t really see it in the photo). Both stamps used  on the center of the card are from the Amazing Birthday Stamp set. The Splatter look is part of the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. The diagonal stripe paper is from the Birthday Bash Specialty paper and the Chevron paper is from the Stacked with Love DSP paper pack.   The sequins are from a paper pumpkin I got some time back. I believe this is another card that could be for a male or female and it was fun to pull together.

I am entering this card into two challenges! First, over at Sparkle and Shine they have a Sketch Challenge with the sentiment in the center so I entering this card for the sketch. Second, I am entering it at Just us Girls challenge as their current theme is Splatter!

In other news I have some updates regarding sale-a-bration.  Due to some quality issues, Stampin’ Up had decided to stop offering Blendabilities. This means it is no longer an option to get as your free item with a 50 dollar Sale-A-Bration purchase or to even purchase in the catalog. The good news is they have added more new items you can get in place of the Blendabilities. Check out the new options:

I think they picked some nice stuff to replace the Blendabilities!  These are while supplies last and Sale-A-Bration ends at the end of March so don’t miss out!

Here are the weekly deals that started yesterday:

Weekly deals March 17 through March 23 2015

Last but not least is a bit of sad news.  Stampin’ Up will no longer offer MDS or print services after May 31, 2015.  This is the digital scrapbooking software Stampin’ Up offered. I never did get around to learning about it but I was always hoping to do so.  I suppose the good news is I can just keep enjoying my physical scrapbooking even more!

Whew! That is all for today! I will try to keep you posted as I get any news from Stampin’ Up.  Hope you find time to be crafty this week!

Birthday Greetings on Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!!

This day is a special one for me. Yes, it is special because I get to express my love a little bit more than usual to my sweetie and maybe a few close family and friends. But there is an even bigger reason this day is special to me. It is my mom’s birthday!! This particular birthday is a big one for her as she is finishing her third quarter of life!  I am so thankful she is still with me and I tried to make a card she would appreciate.  Having a valentine birthday means one might typically get a lot of valentine themed cards. I wanted to try to avoid that and use one of her favorite colors – green.

It was really fun to try to find ways to make this card look like a party was happening on the page! You can’t see it well in the picture, but the little dots were made with the Gold Dazzle Marker from Stampin’ Up!  I was trying to make it look like confetti was flying around the page.  I really think that Gold, Green and the BlackBerry Bliss go so well together. Now, I do have a confession.  The ink used is Wild Wasabi, but the paper is Pear Pizzazz!  I thought I had grabbed Wild Wasabi for the card base! Even though I made a little mistake, I think it still turned out great!  That is one thing I love about Stampin’ Up Paper, they really can coordinate well together even when you make a mistake!

I am entering this card into the Crafty Calendar Challenge as their Current Theme is Anything Goes!

Happy Crafting!
