Stampin’ Friends Blog Hop – Summer Fun!

I am so glad you have stopped by my blog today because you are in a for a treat! I am participating in the Stampin’ Friends Blog Hop and the theme this month is Summery Fun! What makes me think of Summer? Flowers! I love all the beautiful flowers the bloom throughout the summer so I decided I would show off the pretty Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP) with my projects today.

The first thing I have to share with you is a useful project. I am often making lists and I realized I had just run out of my notepad I keep on the fridge. What better time to make my own!

I started by grabbing some of my computer paper and cutting it to 4 x 9 3/4 (10.16 cm x 23.765 cm). I am not sure how much paper I cut, but I did try to make the thickness as close to a 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) as possible. This is important because that matches the width of the Tear & Tape strip. Once I had my paper cut I made it as perfectly lined up as possible at the top. I then held the paper together with binder clips on each side. After that I added the Tear & Tape to the top of the paper. I made sure to press the Tear & Tape down hard so it stuck to the sheets of paper well. Next, I grabbed some of the pretty Perennial Essence DSP and cut it at 4 x 3 3/4 (10.16 cm x 9.525 cm). I used the Be Mine Stitched Dies to give the paper a decorative edge. I laid the DSP under the computer paper and then scored where I would want it to fold over so it would fold easier. I checked to be sure it was lined up with the paper and then folded it over the top. The Tear & Tape keeps it stuck to the top. You do not want to add any glue to the front of the paper so you can tear sheets off easily. I did add some glue to the back of the DSP so it stuck to the last sheet of the notepad. You won’t be able to use this final sheet of paper. Here is a picture highlighting the steps I took so far:

I wanted to dress up the notepad and also make it more sturdy. I first added the lovely Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon across the front. It was adhered to the final piece of paper on the back. Of course, I did not want that to show so I also cut a piece of Petal Pink card stock at 4 1/2 x 9 3/4 (11.43 cm x 23.765 cm) to make a base for the notepad. I think it also makes it look more finished. I then used a sentiment the Crafting Forever stamp set to remind myself to still be crafty everyday when I am making those lists! The sentiment was stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Stitched Shapes Dies. I added a layer of Petal Pink card stock cut out with the layering circles Dies as well. Here is a close up of the top of the notepad:

Fun right? I even added a magnet to the back of the pad so I am ready to write out lists once again! Okay, now how about one more project?

Next up is a card I made with the same DSP and the wonderful new Bloom & Grow stamp set!

Fun fact: The DSP used on the card is actually the back of the paper used on the notepad! To make this card I started with a card base cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 (13.97 cm x 21.59 cm) and scored at 4 1/4 (10.795 cm) in the gorgeous Pretty Peacock card stock. I added a layer of Crumb Cake card stock cut at 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 (13.0175 cm x 9.8425 cm). The DSP is cut at 5 x 3 3/4 (12.7 cm x 9.525 cm). I stamped the sentiment from the Bloom & Grow stamp set using Pretty Peacock ink on Very Vanilla card stock. The leaves were also stamped in the same color. I don’t yet have the Pretty Peacock Blends, but I found that the Dark Bermuda Bay Blends marker was a nice substitute. I colored in the berries with the Light Blackberry Bliss Blends marker. I added some Clear Wink of Stella on the berries as well. Next I cut out the sentiment and a layer of Crumb Cake card stock with the new Stitched Nested Labels Dies.

The pretty ribbon used on this paper is the new Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon. I used a slightly different way to put this ribbon on because the back of the ribbon is only a Crumb Cake color. So instead of folding it over like I normally would, I actually cut two tails so I could have the front of the ribbon showing in the lower corner. The top corner does have a fold, but you can only see the front. I used glue dots to place the ribbon where I wanted it on the paper. Fun trick, right? I finished off the card by adding the sentiment layer on with dimensionals and adding some Blackberry Bliss springs with my Spring punch.

I hope this gives you lots of inspiration, but there is so much more to go! You need to be sure to head over to the next blog and hop you way through to see all the great Summer Fun ideas.

Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 catalog sneak peek #3 – Bloom & Grow!

I am back to share yet another sneak peek with you from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 catalog! The catalog will go live in just 5 DAYS!!! Here is a lovely thank you card made with the new Bloom & Grow stamp set and Budding Blooms dies!

Aren’t the vibrantly colored in stamps pretty? That is one of the things that made me want this set. It is PERFECT for using those blends for coloring! Of course, you could also use our watercolor pencils or blender pens and whatever you choose! I colored in the stamps with the following blends: Light Poppy Parade, Light Granny Apple Green, Light Daffodil Delight and Light and Dark Highland Heather. The sentiment is also from this same stamp set and it has some other wonderful sentiments and many other flower stamp sets too. I used a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of Think Whisper White card stock as my base. There is a skinny layer of Smokey Slate and then the Gorgeous Grape layer was embossed with the Subtle Embossing folder. That pretty ribbon is one that will carry over into the new catalog and of course so will the pearls.

I am getting so excited for the new catalog, are you?? I am ready to send you one if you need it. Just send me a personal message with your address. You can click on contact me at the top of my page to do so!

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back soon with more creativity for you!
