Stampin’ Up! Christmas Sparkles with Santa’s Sleigh and Oh What Fun Stamp Sets!!

Hello Crafty Friends!

I have been attending to some medical concerns recently and had nothing to share with you.  But, I finally have time and energy to share some creations once again. Woo-hoo!

I have been a procrastinator this year about getting my Christmas cards finished so I am still working on them.  I like to make a few different styles so I have a variety to send out to family and friends.  Today’s card is full of sparkly goodness so I hope you love it!

I wanted to make a classy looking Christmas card and I think this one meets that criteria! I started by using the Tree stamp from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set.  I heat embossed that in Silver and then cut it out with the matching Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits.  Then, I cut a Whisper White piece of Card stock cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  I stamped the Happy Christmas Stamp from the Oh, What Fun stamp set with versamark and heat embossed that in Copper.  I chose to use three different sparkly papers for my banners: Silver Foil, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper.  These all really pop on plain white.  To give the card even more flair I added the 1/4 inch Copper Trim and some Metallic Enamel Shapes in silver.  I layered this card front onto a Thick Whisper White Card Base cut at 4 1/4 x 11.

I hope the recipients of the card think it is as pretty as I do!

Are you still working on your Christmas Cards too?

Dual purpose Christmas: a Tag and a Card in one!

Hello Crafty Friends,

I am finally back to share a creation with you.  I know it has been a while since I posted, but hopefully this one will be worth the wait!

I am always looking for ways to make my cards new and different. I also enjoy making tags. I started thinking, why not incorporate both in such a way that the recipient can actually use the tag on one of their gifts!

Here is my finished card:

Tree punch tag

This card is one with no sentiment, but I plan to put a nice greeting on the inside.  You see the button?  I actually poked holes into the paper with my paper piercing tool and then used the gold metallic thread to “sew” the button on. You can see I have a layer of Very Vanilla paper and then a layer of the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP over that.  I only “sewed” the button through those two layers so it would not show through on the base of the card. I did attach the button relatively tight so I could loop the Real Red Cotton Ribbon around the button so it would stay.  Here is a close up of that:

Once I had it looped around the button well, I simply tied a bow on the front of the tag to keep the tag on the card. To make the tag I used the Ornate Tag Topper punch and layered it with a Snowflake design from the Winter Wonderland Vellum.  I also added a banner behind the tree with Gold Foil Paper and a layer of the same vellum.  I topped it off  with a tree punched out of Gold Glimmer paper using the Tree punch and Red Foil paper punched with the star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Once the tag is removed here is what the card would look like:

As you can see it is easy for the recipient to use the ribbon for the tag. I forgot to take a picture of this but, I added a circle punched out of Very Vanilla to the back of the card with a To: and From:  spot so the individual can write the names on the tag.

I hope you like this card!  It was easier to make than it sounds and really does make your card do double duty!

Weekly Deals and another Christmas card with Cheerful Tags!

Hi everyone!

I am always trying to see if I can come up with a new design I have not yet made. I sat down to make this card with no particular plan but I did notice I had a cut out from a star I used on another project that seemed like the best place to start.

I wanted to make it appear that the star was turned on its side so I added the bow in the corner. I am not sure I love it, but it still turned out pretty to me. The paper is part of the Trim the Tree Paper Stack and the stamps in the Cheerful Tags stamp set match it perfectly! This one was quite simple to make so give it a shot!

Rustic Glimmer with Stampin’ Up!

The weekend is here!  I finally had some time to craft today!  I recently received some new goodies and wanted to try them out.  I have still been practicing at the shaker cards so here is what I created:

I call this my Rustic Glimmer card because there is natural elements paired with pretty metallic gold! My new goody is the Hardwood background stamp from Stampin’ Up! I have seen some really adorable creations on pinterest with this stamp and wanted to see if I could add my own spin to it. I decided to stamp with the Encore Gold Metallic ink and then layer it with the pretty Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. I added in the Burlap ribbon, but I cut it so it would not flow through behind the tree cut out. This way it appears like a whole piece, but still allows the pretty hardwood stamped image and dotted velum to show through. I am waiting for some Cherry Cobbler ribbon to arrive from Stampin’ Up in the mail so I had to use what I had on hand. I believe that either the Cherry Cobbler Sheer Linen ribbon or the Real Red Satin Woven ribbon would look just as good or even better than what I used!

I hope you like the card! I am trying to work on a few more shaker cards and I will be sure to post what I come up with!

I am entering this card into the Delighted with DSP Challenge over at Cathy and Catherine Create because I am delighted with that Vellum DSP!!

Crazy for Christmas Stars – Day Two!

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s card features two great stamp sets being offered by Stampin’ Up. The versatile Bright and Beautiful Star stamp set and the fun Cheerful Tags stamp set.

I really do love these stars and the tag stamp is something that could be used year round. The little tree detail is also part of the Cheerful Tags set. This card really pops with all the silver emobssing and the thin layer of shiny silver foil sheet. I also used  the Trim the Tree DSP paper to add in a little patterned detail.

Hope you like this card! Check back in a little later for updates on the weekly deals!
