Stampin’ Friends Blog Hop – Fall!

Hi Creative Friends!

I am excited that you are checking out my blog today so you can start getting lots of fall themed inspiration! I am participating in the Stampin’ Friends Blog Hop and the theme this month is Fall! Fall colors are some of my favorite colors to work with on my creative projects. I am drawn to the deep, regal colors that show up in the autumn. The projects I made today show off some of those pretty colors. I made a lovely thank you card and a useful bookmark that coordinate together and could be given as a gift set.

I knew I wanted to start by using the pretty Country Floral Embossing Folder. I quickly determined that the Forever Lovely stamp set and the Painted Harvest stamp set coordinated quite well with this embossing folder so they were the perfect sets to use for my project!

To make the card I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock to 5 1/8 x 3 7/8 and rounded the corners. I ran it through my Big Shot with the Country Floral Embossing Folder. I then used my sponge daubers and the following colors to lightly color the raised parts of the embossed image: Mango Melody, Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive. These are dark colors so you want to be sure and use a light touch and small circular motions to get the ink on where you want it. It is important to remember that it is okay if it isn’t perfect too! Once I had that colored I layered it onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock cut to 4 x 5 1/4. The based layer is a Crumb Cake card stock cut to 4 1/4 X 11 and scored at 5 1/2. I didn’t have any Blackberry Bliss ribbon, but that is not a problem at all since I have Blends markers! I used the 3/8 inch Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon and colored it in with my Dark Blackberry Bliss Marker. I added that along with some Burlap Ribbon to bring in more natural elements. The sentiment is from the Country Home Stamp set and was stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink on to Crumb Cake card stock. I then cut that out with the Stitched Nested Label Dies. I added this to the card with dimensionals and put some Gold Metallic Pearls on some of the smaller flowers on the card.

Now on to the bookmark!

To make the bookmark I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Card stock to 6 3/8 x 2 inches and then rounded all the corners. The Crumb Cake card stock layer is cut to 6 3/4 x 2 1/4. I used my 1/2 inch circle punch to make a hole in the Very Vanilla card stock and then laid it over the Crumb Cake cardstock to punch the hole again through that paper so they would line up better. Now it was time for the stamping. I ended up using Rich Razzleberry to stamp the images from the Forever Lovely stamp set as it seemed like it matched the card better. I randomly added the flowers and leaves from that set. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive. The sunflower images are stamped in Mango Melody and are from the Painted Harvest stamp set. Because reading can take you to far away places I thought it was perfect to add a sentiment from the Above The Clouds stamp set indicating you would be off to great places while reading! This was stamped in Old Olive. I did not add any pearls because a book mark needs to be flat. 🙂 I then added the same ribbon I used on the card around the top of the bookmark, but I tied it all together with some of the Linen Thread. Because I felt it needed just a little sparkle, I did add in some clear wink of Stella on the leaves of the bookmark.

These are pretty easy projects, so be sure to give them a try! But, before you do, be sure you hop along to see all the the wonderful fall ideas in the blog hop! Just click on the names below to hop on over to the next blog.

Stampin’ Up! Country Home and Tin Tile Embossing folder

Hi Crafty Friends,

The new Holiday catalog is so chocked full of wonderful new stamp sets it is very hard to decide what to use next!  One very popular new set is the Country Home stamp set.  If you do a search on pinterest you will find loads of wonderful creative ideas already available to CASE.  Here is my first creation using this set:

This stamp set offers you many ways to truly make a pretty, country inspired card.  The new Tin Tile Embossing folder is AWESOME!  It looks just like that old fashioned tin tile roof we used to see in the stores of yesteryear.  I have seen so many truly amazing creations to get a distressed look on this.  I used the new Galvanized Metallic Paper with the embossing folder and then adding some Gray Granite over the top with a dauber to give it only a slight tinge of being worn.  It is hard to see it in this photo.  The old style milk can was stamped in memento ink and then colored in with Smoky Slate light and dark Blends.  I tried to make it appear the light was hitting the can from the left and added more shading to the right side.  The thanks sentiment is one of 4 options that fit in the oval label stamp.  There are two different flower arrangement options in this stamp set, but I chose the one with plenty of leaves.  I colored those in with Old Olive Blends and the Flower was colored in Rich Razzleberry Blends.  The Cat Tails were colored in with Crumb Cake Blends.  I decided to add a doily  to the back o the stamped image and finished it off with the new Galvanized Metal Buttons and some Linen Thread.

If you get this stamp set you could easily make it rustic, country and maybe even a little elegant.

I hope this helps you find some inspiration in your crafts!
