The Perfect Father’s Day Card!

Hello Crafty Friends,

I want to share the Father’s Day card I made recently and it is a perfect card for my dad.  Though he can’t do much fixing or building things anymore, he was always the guy who could fix stuff at our house.  Here is what I came up with!

Cute, right?  Before I get into how I made the card, I should mention that the majority of the items I used to make this card are already out of stock.  That is the thing about the retired list, you have to be quick before the goodies are gone!

I started with a Basic Black cardstock as my card base.  I layered that with Very Vanilla and some Urban Underground DSP (this DSP is out of stock). I wanted the tools to look like they were in an old fashioned tool belt pocket. So I used Crushed Curry and made a larger and smaller pocket.  I cut a half inch piece of Crushed Curry to be the folded over top. I used my corner punch to make it look more real.  I then used a white gel pin and made dashes to look like it had thread sewn in.  Looks alot like the tool belt pocket, right?  To make the tools I used the Build It Framelits ( now out of stock) to first cut them in Silver Foil. Then I used Basic Black to cut the Screw Driver and Hammer handles.  The ruler actually just makes an impression of the ruler lines, so I fussy cut that out once I ran it through the big shot to get the ruler lines.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the Nailed It stamp set (still available!) and cut it out with the framelit that matches the stamp.

Though much of the items on this card are sold out, I am hopeful that you can still find some inspiration in my ideas.

Now how about some other great news?  Stampin’ Up! Just added goodies to the Clearance Rack!

Father’s Day Wishes!

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads!!

I have a little Father’s Day card to share with you today. If I am being honest, I must mention that this card has not yet been sent to my father! He is on a vacation right now though, so I thought I would wait to send it for when he gets home and that way it would not add to the pile of mail he will already have.

This is actually another card that I CASEd from watching videos over at Stamping School.  It is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 card,  but still fits in a regular A2 size envelope.  I used a few retired items here, but they went so well together I just had too.  The sentiment is from last years paper pumpkin set called Hey Man. I figured out it fit perfectly in the word bubble die so it was Just Right for Mr. Owl to send my wishes! The hole Mr. Owl is peeking out from was made using the 1 3/4 inch circle punch and then it was sponged around the opening to look a bit more worn.  To make his little beak, I used the tiny star punch that is part of the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack

I hope you are getting to spend some time with your father today!  I am so glad I still have my dad with me and I am happy he is getting to enjoy sun and fun with my brother in California on his special day.
