Hello Crafty Friends,
It is Independence Day here in the U.S.A so what better time to make a patriotic themed card?
I made this card thinking it could be used for many types of occasions that may fall near the 4th of July. I was trying to make something a bit out of the ordinary for me. It was really fun to play around to see what I could come up with. I started with a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and then I used washi tape to make the stripes. I kept a rectangle un-taped on the upper left corner to have room for my stars. This card does not have a perfectly accurate flag, of course. To make the flag I used a few stamps from the Timeless Textures stamp set. I stamped the red stripes in Real Red and the blue background for the stars in Blueberry Bushel. I carefully peeled back the washi tape once I finished stamping. I then used versamark and a stamp from the Sheltering Tree stamp set that had some stars in it. I then heat embossed this with white embossing powder. I wanted this to have a rustic, weathered look so I used a Sponge Brayer with Sahara Sand Ink to go over the card multiple times. To make it look even more weathered I took my scissors and carefully roughed the edges of the stamped cardstock. I did the same thing with the layer of Real Red cardstock. I used a stamp from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set to stamp the Celebrate sentiment. I wanted only the Celebrate word from this stamp so I cut around the word to omit the other part of the sentiment. I then used the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies to cut an oval in Real Red. I added some Blueberry Bushel Ribbon and a few rhinestones to finish things off.
Now I am ready to go if I have a birthday, anniversary or really any occasion that happens near the 4th of July.
I hope you are enjoying some fun with family and friends today if you can!
Happy 4th of July!
