Over at Scrap our Stash there is a new challenge to create a background using cardstock, a stencil and some form of medium from my stash. I have been strictly working on my wedding album for nearly two years now. Although I have only a few pages left to finish, I have been itching to work on something new. So I decided I was going to dig through my OLD photos and do something fun. My high school days!! Some of my favorite memories are from the 80’s. I can not stop listening to music the from that time. In fact, if you need a great online radio station for really varied 80’s music, check out www.flashbackradio.com. I listen to them all the time. Anyway, I decided to see if I could really make my page look like it was made in the 80’s as best I can. Here is the result:
Isn’t this page Totally Awesome?! 😉 To make this layout I used the Blocks 5×8 stencil from Dylusions. I stamped the stencil with Colorbox pigment ink that came in a three pack called Cat’s Eye. I also used Dylusions Spray inks in Polished Jade and Lemon Zest. The Cardstock is American Crafts paper, but I do not know the color names. The Black and White checked background paper is from Any Tangerine Plus One line. The Remember wood veneer was inked in the Cat’s Eye ink (the three pack had Pink, Purple and Silver) and is from Elle’s Studio. The chipboard numbers are American Crafts Thickers. I used my Stampin’ up On Film framelit die to make polariod frames around my pictures and then stamped paint splatters with the Stampin’ Up Gorgeous Grunge set. The embellishments are various wood veneers and sequins I had around. Last are the fun circle cut outs. It is not easy to find embellishments that are 80’s themed these days so, I just did an internet search for things I could download and printed them on cardstock and cut them out with my circle dies.
I hope you like this page and it inspires to remember to scrap those old photos once in a while too!!
I had a rough week with my back pain and could not even think about crafting anything. BUT, I finally felt somewhat better today and thank goodness I did because it is National Scrapbooking Day!! There are so many giveaways and challenges out there I can barely keep up. I was going to try to do all sorts of challenges but I ended up only having the energy and tolerance to make two scrapbook pages. I honestly think that is not too bad considering how I felt. So here are the final pages:
I don’t really have the best lighting for taking pictures of my pages at night, but oh well. There is lots of copper gold in these two pages. I found this fantastic paper over at www.craftysteals.com for a great price. It is by Pink Paislee and the pack is called Luxe. Lots of beautfiul, striking metallic accent papers that are great for adding some zing to my wedding album. I only have about 5-6 pages left and my wedding album will be complete….. only took me nearly two years!
Hope everyone is having a great National Scrapbooking Day!
I have been trying to remember to post some recent scrap pages I have made on Saturdays but I was up so late scrapping last night, I never had time to post. I was lucky enough to get to spend time crafting away with two of my long time friends and my sister! I don’t live anywhere near these gals anymore so it was an extra special treat to get to do this.
I recently ordered some supplies from a favorite discount website – www.scrapbooksteals.com. If you haven’t heard of this deal site, I recommend checking it out! They post a new deal every day at 8am and 8pm pacific time and there are some really good prices. My recent order was a whole set of supplies with the chalk theme. I got an 8 1/2 x11 pad of paper, a 6×6 pad of paper, two emblisshment kits and a 4 pack of washi tape for $36.00 and it all coordinates perfectly. So of course I decided I need to make some pages with the chalk theme so here they are:
Pretty much everything used in this 2 page layout is from the My Mind’s Eye Chalk Studio line. The 12×12 papers were some others I had around. I did not stamp a single thing on these which is very unusual for me. I did have a challenge in mind when making them though. Over at Scrap Our Stash they continue to have challenges all month. I found one I thought I could work with given I am still working on my wedding album. It is the Streamers,Twine or Ribbon challenge. The twine colors I bought with this Chalk Studio line worked perfect!
It was a fantastic Saturday that went by too fast and now I have to make a 6 hour drive home. 🙁 Fingers crossed I get some time to be crafty later this week!
It’s Saturday! Woo-hoo! Time for me to post one of my scrapbook pages. These days I am on the hunt for fun challenges to get me thinking and I just happened to find one I liked. Over at Scrap Our Stash they had a challenge to make a scrapbook page with Banners. Banners do seem to be everywhere lately and I certainly use them in my cards so I figured I would give it a shot. Here is my result:
I only have two little banners, but I just felt on this page I wanted the photo to be the star. It is me and husband on our wedding day so we are the stars of that day for sure! 😉 I often see beautiful scrapbook pages with many layers and embellishments, but I just wanted to keep it simple on this one. The white background layer was hand cut by me! No Cricut used on this page! I still have a number of pages to work on for my wedding album so that will probably be what I am posting the most on my Scrappin’ Saturday posts.
Happy Saturday ya’ll! (yes I said that, even though I live in Chicago – ha!)
