Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Layers Thinlits makes the perfect winter card!

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have been a busy bee making birthday cards for family members who have birthday’s in January.  I have 5 birthdays in my family in January so I am always trying to come up with winter theme ideas for the cards I make during this month. I was able to come up with this pretty card that also uses one of my favorite stamp sets – Eastern Beauty!

It was so fun to make this pretty ombre’ look using one of the stamps from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.  I highly recommend getting this stamp set because the versatility of it is amazing!  I used Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, and Softy Sky to get the ombre’ effect. When doing something like this you have to decide on the pattern you will use and stick with it.  I was actually reminding myself when to turn the stamp around the opposite direction out loud so I would not mess up!  😀  I used a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Big on Birthdays stamp set and then punched it out with the Classic Label punch.  To give the sentiment a border I also used the punch on Temping Turquoise paper and then cut it in half. I adhered this to the back of the sentiment so it shows up on each end. I used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits to cut out pretty snowflakes in Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, and Soft Sky. I made a cluster of these snowflakes behind my sentiment and added some 1/8 inch sheer ribbon in Whisper White.   I added a Tempting Turquoise card stock layer and a Pool Party card base and finished things off with the some of the lighter Dapper Denim Glitter Enamel Dots.

I hope this card gives you some inspiration for your crafts!

Stampin’ Up Summer Card using the Colorful Seasons Stamp set

Hello Crafty friends!

I have been visiting my brother in California and really haven’t had much time to post.  Before I left I was inspired by the thought of sitting by the ocean and I came up with this fun summer card!

This sure makes me think of a wonderful summer day!

To make this card I used the Colorful Seasons Stamp set and the Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies.  This bundle is really a good one to have because you can make something for all four seasons!  As I looked at my supplies I noticed the die that cuts out a Adirondack chair made me think of those fences you often see on the beaches.  So I started with Sahara Sand cardstock and then used Sahara Sand ink to stamp a an image with the Woodgrain background stamp (this is retired but you can use the new Tree Rings Stamp set in its place!).  Then I used the Adirondack chair die to cut out the “fence”  To make it look like a fence I cut off the seat and the arms of the chair.  That’s all there is to it! To make the sand I ripped pieces of Crumb cake paper. Then I used my Wink of Stella to make it look more like sand. The background is a white paper that I colored in lightly with Soft Sky using a sponge dauber. I stamped the chair in black in over the sand and the sky.  It did not stamp perfectly so I colored in the missing black with my marker. The sun was cut out with a circle punch from the new Color Theory DSP.  The cute little drink was stamped in daffodil delight and I used a framelit from the Seasonal Layers thinlit dies to cut it out.  I finished it off by layering it on Real Red paper.  The sentiment is also from the Colorful Seasons Stamp set.

I hope this gives a some great ideas with this versatile new stamp set!
