Whew! It has been a busy summer which is making it challenging for me to find time to craft! I am glad to report I have something new to share with you today, and it includes fun with watercolor and pretty, copper metallic embossing!
I had only recently received the Modern Heart stamp set and it will definitely be one of my favorites! To make this card I started by stamping the geometric heart with Versamark ink on watercolor paper. I covered that with Copper Embossing powder. I heat embossed that and let it cool. I then used my Aqua Painter and started at the top of the heart with Bermuda Bay ink. In the center of the heart I added Coastal Cabana and at the bottom of the hear I used Pool Party. I lightly used the Aqua Painter to meld the colors next to each other so you could not see an ink line. Once it had the appearance I liked I fussy cut the heart out. I cut a 3 3/4 x 5 inch piece of Whisper White ink and stamped with another stamp from the Modern Heart set using Pool Party Ink. I then used the small geometric heart stamp from the set and Versamark ink to randomly stamp hearts on the paper. These were also heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder. I stamped the sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I layered the stamped paper onto a 3/4 X 5 1/4 piece of Copper Foil paper and a card base of Bermuda Bay cut to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4. I then added some Clear Epoxy Droplets to give it a little more flare. The heart was adhered to the paper with dimensionals.
This is a very simple way to add some watercolor into your life. Have you tried watercoloring yet? It makes me feel a bit like an artist!

It has been quite some time since I have posted any information or shared any creations for you. I am afraid the reason for my hiatus is a bit sad. I received some unfortunate news and had to drive to my parents house (they are quite far from me). My dad had been taken to the ER and was not acting right. After many tests they determined he had a large brain tumor. The appearance of the tumor suggested it was a very aggressive form of cancer. My family was informed surgery was needed, but they would never be able to get it all. My dad is 80 years old so there were many risks with this surgery for various reasons. I am happy to report he did have the surgery and his recovery thus far has been much better than expected. He is walking with assistance and showing almost no cognitive issues at all. We really couldn’t ask for a better outcome! However, they are still evaluating this tumor to see what grade the cancer is and how it can be treated. At this point I am just happy to have him around a little longer. As you can imagine, I didn’t think much about my stamping during this time. Now that I can breath a short sigh of relief I thought it was time to share something creative!
In the wake of all that has happened, I am beyond thankful. Thankful for the doctors steady hand, thankful for the unbelievable amount of prayers my family received, and I am especially thankful my dad is still here with me. So what better card to share than a Thank you card, right?
This card was made using both a watercolor technique and the wonderful blends markers! I started with a card base in Pool Party cut at 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches. I then cut a piece of Thick Whisper White to 5 1/4 x 4 inches. The Thick Whisper White card stock will work for some water coloring and is a more of a bright white color than the watercolor card stock. I stamped the flower image from the Humming Along stamp set using Memento Black ink. This is the best to use for coloring with the blends. To color in the flower I started with the Light Flirty Flamingo blends marker. Then I used the Dark Flirty Flamingo blends marker to give the inside of the flower a darker town. I blended the colors together using the Light Flirty Flamingo blends marker once more. For the stem of the flower I used the Light Granny Apple Green blends marker. I then used the Dark Granny Apple Green blends marker to add some dimension to the stem. I used the Dark Daffodil Delight blends marker to the stamen of the flower.
I wanted to give the flower a bit of a halo look so I used my Aqua painter and some Pool Party ink to lightly watercolor around the flower. I am happy with the results, but I think this look may be an acquired taste. You can’t really see it in this photo but I also added some Clear Wink of Stella to the watercolor part of the ink. You might see a slightly darker area here or there where I got a little heavy handed with the Wink of Stella…thankfully it looks good in person!! 😉
I stamped the Thank You sentiment from the same stamp set in the Memento Ink and then cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Framelits. I added some of the Flirty Flamingo ribbon from the All My Love Ribbon Pack to the card and tied a knot in the ribbon. I popped up the sentiment with dimensionals and finished off the card by adding a few pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls pack.
I hope I can come back to share something again with you soon. Don’t forget, you only have 6 days left before Sale-A-Bration ends! If you want something free then now is the time to order!!
